Do you have a newly adopted dog or puppy with an unknown socialization history?
Does your dog like to play, but is fearful around new dogs, people or places?
We can help!
- Our approach to socialization is derived from the instinctive need most dogs have to be social. Our programs have been developed to utilize innate social drives to help dogs overcome fear, and to set the stage for each dog to make positive choices that lead to confidence and a sense of harmony among other dogs.
- During individually tailored structured approximation sessions we use principles of BAT (Behavior Adjustment Training), social facilitation and allelomimetic behavior to introduce your dog to other dependable, highly social dogs at a pace that keeps your dog comfortable and under threshold. These scientifically backed behavior modification methods help build your dog’s confidence, reduce fear and stress, and create a positive association around novel dogs and people.
What kind of dogs is the program appropriate for?
Our program is a beneficial training and behavior aid for dogs that are:
- Have an unknown background or social history
- Fearful with new people, new dogs, or new environments
- Never received proper socialization as a puppy
- Adopted from a hoarding or other abuse case
- Exhibit leash aggression (but are generally ok off leash)
- Become quickly overwhelmed in dog social settings
- Young puppies who are still in their critical socialization period
Our program is not appropriate for:
- Dogs that display a high level of offensive aggression towards other dogs or people
- Have ever seriously injured another dog or person (minor bite histories are considered on an individual basis taking into account multiple factors)
